6 bedroom, privately owned and run country house hotel with a genuine and thoughtful approach, well trained friendly staff and exceptional cuisine.

Set back from the A94, the 100 year old house is hidden by tall trees, fostering a special secluded atmosphere. Despite this privacy the busy town of Forfar is only 6 miles away and you can be in the fair city of Perth in half an hour.

Spring is a secret known only to the wise and the locals, it is the most beautiful time with the garden wide awake and trees heavy with blossom. Stroll through daffodils and bluebells under the trees or walk under the tumbling confetti as the cherry blossom falls in May.

Come and be part of it.

Highland Games, World Class Golf , The Grand Scottish Prom, The Hairst, Antique Fairs, Craft Fairs, Food, Flower and Countryside Festivals, Spectacular fishing, Magnificent Glens, A host of outdoor adventure activities and sports...

Castles, Exhibits, Galleries, Museums, Ancient standing stones, Antarctic exploring ships...

Guests with families and dogs are welcome to run free and enjoy all areas of the grounds.  The large well kept lawn at the front of the house has a beautifully cared for 9 hole putting green and croquet lawn.  The mediaeval motte on which the house and lawn stands was hand dug and since coins and spearheads dating from 11th and 12th century have been found in the soil, is listed  as a scheduled ancient monument by Historic Scotland.   The surrounding woods provide an enchanting walk through high trees, rhododendron arches and in spring, steep banks are cluttered with snowdrops, daffodils and bluebells.  You will certainly meet at some point our free range chickens and ducks who provide magnificent fresh free range eggs.  During the summer, the eggs can be bought from the hotel as can bunches of snowdrops, daffodils and sweet peas when in season.

We are also rear our own Tamworth pigs, who are bouncy, charming and can't wait to meet you.

We have an unshakeable commitment to providing good value for money, so for this very reason we are pleased to announce a price FREEZE for 2008.
